This young couple loved their new-build in west Etobicoke, but didn’t love the featureless front yard.  They had no intention of leaving anytime soon, but were well aware that creating curb appeal builds value.  I designed a front garden that would mature over time to soften the stark stone façade and imposing scale of their oversized home.  The key with new planting is to build four season interest with a well-balanced foundation of conifers, ornamental trees, and deciduous shrubs with blooms that create texture through the winter.  Layered with grasses and other perennials that have interesting winter forms, we installed an appealing garden that looks great right now, and will look even better in a few years.
